The Estate

Owned by the Gazaniol family, this estate produces wines which are regularly singled out at being one of the best value Bordeaux Superieur by Robert Parker. The estate is located at the easternmost reaches of the Bordeaux region, bordering the Dordogne department. The total size of the estate is 153 HA, of which 65 HA are dedicated to the vineyard. The estate dates from the 16th Century, and the château was built in 1731

Winemaking

The particularity of the Château de Parenchère White stands in its assemblage, as this wine is a combination of the three main Bordeaux White grape varieties. The Sauvignon and the Muscadelle stay in skin-contact for 18 hours under a carbonic gas atmosphere before they are pressed; although the Semillon is pressed right away once it comes to the cellar. The musts then lay down for 8 days at cold temperature before they are clarified. Fermentation then follows at very moderate temperatures (between 16 to 20°C). After 3 months of ageing on fine lies, the wines are blended together and bottled at the estate.
