The Estate

Sean and Nicola Allison purchased this property in January 2002.The acquisition of Château L’Avocat was quite unique as opportunities to acquire land of this proven quality in the Graves are extremely rare. Their intention is to make wines in a similar style to those that have been successful and well received from Château du Seuil

.

History of Château L’Avocat

Prior to World War 2 Château L’Avocat was recognised as one of the top properties in the southern Graves. The property enjoyed considerable success as evidenced by its winning of Gold medals in the prestigious Concours Agricole Paris in 1932 and 1934 and a Diplôme d’honneur Exposition Internationale Anvers 1930.The property changed hands post war and as the family interest in actively managing the property waned it was eventually signed over to ‘fermage’or long-term lease and wine sold unbranded to Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A.
