Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, 5ème Cru Classé 2004

The Chateau

The property was created in the 16th century. The estate extended over 225 acres in a single unit to the south of Pauillac, on a rise which is the origin of its name "Grand-Puy". Mr Lacoste gave its name to the Château when he bought the property and kept it until the epidemic of phylloxera at the end of the 19th century. Its reputation comes from Mr Raymond Dupin, a legendary figure in the Médoc wine world, who was proprietor until 1978. He sold the estate to the Borie family. Nowadays, François-Xavier BORIE is managing Château Grand-Puy Lacoste. He renewed the cellars of the Château just before producing the great vintage of 1982. The vinification and aging of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste are conducted under the same technique, with the same cares and same mind as those of the other estates of the Borie Family as Château Ducru-Beaucaillou and Château Haut-Batailley.
