The first known acts concerning Barroubio’s property date from the year 900. They are kept in the Narbonne archives.

Since 2000, Raymond Miquel has been at the head of the estate whose wines he had been vinified since the 1980s alongside his mother Marie-Thérèse, who returned to live on the estate when her husband died. She was the one who brought the muscats back into the modern era.

Viticulture

The hamlet of Barroubio is located at an altitude of 300m, at the northeastern limit of the Minervois. It is bounded to the East and West by combes (name given in the region to ravines, canyons, gorges…). The territory of the municipality of Saint-Jean de Pardailhan was detached in 1908 from the municipality of Pardailhan (canton of Saint-Pons-de-Thomières) and in 1936 it took the beautiful name of Saint-Jean-de-Minervois. The Barroubio plateau straddles the departments of Aude and Hérault and the two municipalities of Saint Jean de Minervois and Bize Minervois Of the 60 hectares of the property, 31 are devoted to the vineyard. The petit grain muscat, with 23 hectares, occupies a prominent place. The other grape varieties – grenache, carignan and syrah – are used to develop AOC Minervois rosé and red wines. Since 2018, wines have been labeled HVE (High Environmental Value). 2 sectors: Limestone: Muscat de Saint Jean de Minervois Clay-limestone: Minervois
